More than 60 friends, family members, and members of the FCJ community gathered at the FCJ Centre to celebrate a significant milestone as Sr. Ger Curran, fcJ, and Sr. Patricia Binchy, fcJ, marked 50 years since their profession of vows as Faithful Companions of Jesus.

The celebration began with Thanksgiving Mass presided over by Fr. Wilbert Chin Jon and concelebrated by Fr Adrian Martens. In his homily, Fr. Wilbert reflected on the prophetic dimension of religious life. Drawing from Scripture, he noted that prophets are not primarily those who predict the future but those who are deeply rooted in God and able to "read the signs of the times." He highlighted how the sisters' ministries in education, retreat work, hospitality, advocacy, and spiritual accompaniment have been ministries of prophecy, forming others, fostering discernment, and planting seeds of the Gospel that continue to bear fruit.

Fr. Wilbert also compared the sisters' lifelong service to the widow in the Gospel who offered all she had. While the world may not always recognize the significance of such hidden generosity, he reminded the community that God sees the fullness of their gift: lives poured out in faithful service, compassion, and accompaniment.

After Mass, guests gathered in the FCJ Centre library for fellowship, sharing stories, laughter, and gratitude. The warm, joyful atmosphere reflected the lasting impact Sr. Ger and Sr. Trish have had on many lives over the past five decades.

Both sisters were honoured for their many years of dedicated service. Sr. Ger was recognized for her ministry in education, counselling, spiritual accompaniment, interfaith dialogue, refugee support, and leadership within the Calgary FCJ community. Sr. Trish was celebrated for her contributions to education, pastoral ministry, international leadership, and her continuing service as General Superior.

As the community marked this Golden Jubilee, all gave thanks for the sisters' enduring "yes" to God's call, a commitment renewed each day through prayer, service, companionship, and love. Their witnesses continue to inspire others to live with faith, courage, and generosity.

May God to continue to grant Sr. Ger and Sr. Trish peace, joy, strength, and abundant grace in the years ahead.
