Growing Together: Another Successful Year in Our Community Garden

Another wonderful gardening season has come to an end at the FCJ Christian Life Centre Community Garden!

This year, our garden brought together people who share a love of gardening, nature, and community. With 14 garden beds, we welcomed gardeners who spent the season planting, caring for their gardens, sharing their knowledge, and enjoying the beauty of growing together.

This year, we also made some improvements to our garden beds and installed an underground water system. This made watering easier and more convenient for our gardeners while helping us use water more carefully and avoid unnecessary waste. These improvements made the garden easier to maintain and more welcoming for everyone.

Beyond growing vegetables, flowers, and plants, our community garden continues to grow friendships and connections. It is a place where people meet, learn from one another, exchange ideas, share experiences, and enjoy time outdoors.

To celebrate another successful season, we gathered on October 28 for an end-of-season potluck. Everyone brought food to share, along with stories, experiences, and happy memories from the time spent in the garden. It was a lovely opportunity to reconnect, enjoy good food, laugh together, and celebrate what we had accomplished throughout the season.

We were also pleased to welcome Mike from Karuna Compost, who shared helpful tips and ideas about composting. We had the opportunity to learn more about how composting can benefit our gardens, improve the soil, and help us care for the environment.

As another gardening season comes to an end, we are grateful to all our gardeners and everyone who contributed their time, energy, and enthusiasm. Our community garden is more than just a place to grow food; it is a place where friendships grow, knowledge is shared, and community flourishes.

We look forward for another season of growing together!
