TABLES OF SHARED WISDOM

On a beautiful October afternoon, members of the Calgary Interfaith Council gathered at Catholic Pastoral Centre to initiate a conversation and share wisdom regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it has impacted different faith traditions. There were many religious leaders in attendance and all throughout lunch, we shared insights, experiences and challenges related to AI that we have come across in our ministries. Not only were we nourished physically by the delicious spread of food, but also through the learnings we obtained to bring back to our communities. These conversations highlighted the importance for different faith traditions to continue pursuing authentic human connections by creating avenues for in-person community building. It was evident that AI can be a very helpful instrument when used appropriately but most agreed that there is no real replacement for meaningful human interactions. At the end of the day, we all have to discern how we use such powerful tools in our communities and be cognizant of how it can impact us as a society.
