An Evening of Reflection

Last July 11, 2025, FCJ Christian Life Centre opened its doors to welcome more than 30 individuals gathered for “Miracle in God’s Hands: An Evening Reflection”, a spiritual reflection led by Fr. Teodulo (Ted) Gonzales, SJ PhD.

Fr. Ted centered his reflection around the message: focus on the blessings rather than the stressors around us. In a world where worries can often take hold of our hearts, Fr. Ted reminded everyone that miracles unfold when we learn to place our trust and surrender in God’s hands.

The evening offered moments of prayer, silence, and the showcasing of videos that conveyed messages of hope and miracles, allowing participants to recognize that God has given them the tools to become who they are meant to be. Fr. Ted reminded everyone that while stressors will always be present, it is important to focus more on the blessings.

The FCJ Centre remains grateful for the presence of Fr. Ted and all who took part in this enriching evening.

3-Day Weekend Retreat

Following the evening gathering, we offered a 3-day weekend retreat exploring the same theme: Miracle in God’s Hands: A Pilgrimage of Hope - Rekindling the Spirit, Nourishing the Soul.

We were blessed to welcome 13 retreatants who joined us for a time of quiet reflection, spiritual deepening, and community. Over the course of the weekend, participants engaged in guided meditations, personal prayer, and meaningful group sharing, all centered around recognizing God’s presence and grace in everyday life.

Some food for thought from the retreat:

  • Life can be confusing. We can be following the usual pattern of our life mindlessly or we may pause to examine and “see” the hand of God.

  • God is light. God speaks. God makes us “see” where we are at a particular stage of our life.

  • As we gaze upon the Lord, we become enlightened.

  • Cracks are present to allow the light to shine through

  • It is when we review our lives that we see the beautiful design of God. Touch, taste, and smell your way to the holy, for in the last analysis, all moments are key moments. All life is filled with grace.

Testimonials from the retreatants:

“I rediscovered the little spark of hope with this weekend of disconnect from tech. The hamster wheel allowed me to reconnect to the mystery and let that spark grow, at a time in our world when hope seems a scarcity. It was a journey out of real fear and into the light”.

-Ty

“The retreat not only gave me much food for thought and prayer but also tools and techniques to help. I particularly liked the encouragement to get in touch with my “dreams” and to do some long-range planning to achieve what God calls me to”.

-Paula

Here's our Midweek Reflection video of Sr. Ann Marie Walsh, fcJ about the Retreat and relating it into our present circumstance.
