The FCJ Centre hosted a special pop-up event for youth, young adults, and the young at heart titled "Making Melodies and Memories" on November 28, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The evening brought together 10 participants for a time of food, fun, music, Advent reflection, and fellowship.
The night was filled with uplifting praise and worship music, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. Participants also captured meaningful moments by taking photos near the beautifully decorated Christmas tree using a disposable camera, preserving memories to treasure.
The outreach facilitator, Pristine, led a brief but inspiring Advent reflection focused on the themes of hope, peace, love, and joy, encouraging everyone to embrace the true spirit of the season. As Advent is a season of hope and giving, Pristine also highlighted the annual Stuff a Sock, Warm a Heart campaign of the FCJ Centre as an example of celebrating Christmas by being Christ to others through acts of kindness for those in need. All the stuffed socks will be delivered to Alpha House, a safe haven for homeless individuals whose lives are affected by drugs and alcohol.
When asked about the most valuable part of the session, participants shared heartfelt responses, including:
The wonderful worship, the laughter, the stories, the sincerity of the connections made and the amazing fellowship.
Getting to know other people.
Just enjoying the presence of other people
In response to what they learned or took away from the evening, attendees reflected:
That fellowship where you can be yourself and connect with your true self is not easy to find in this world and is a true blessing from the Good Lord.
it was really inspiring to hear other people's stories, and their witness to the faith.
Advent colors and meaning
The event was a beautiful opportunity for connection, reflection, and celebration, leaving participants with a sense of community and the warmth of the Advent season. #
