HOPE Train Express

 The FCJ Christian Life Centre hosted the Vacation Bible School entitled HOPE Train Express from August 19-22, 2025. This 4-day program for children ages 7-11 years old focused on what “being salt and light of the world” means (Matthew 5:13-16). We looked at some of the wonderful miracles that Jesus performed and how it helps deepen our faith and trust in God by offering hope when everything seems to be hopeless.  

We started each day “checking in” -- presenting and getting our passports stamped before starting our journey aboard the Hope Train Express!  We continued with an opening prayer, followed by an action song called “Salt and Light” by Amy Grant. Afterwards, we engaged in crafts, games, and activities which aimed to reinforce the miracle we were learning about that day.  

Everyday, we learned and talked about the different miracles and how they lead us back to following Jesus’ example of showing love, mercy, and kindness to everyone He meets. 

 The miracles we explored were: 

• Day 1 - Jesus turns water into wine 

• Day 2 - Jesus heals the official’s son and Jesus heals the paralytic man 

• Day 3 – Jesus feeds the 5000 and Jesus walks on water 

• Day 4 – Jesus heals a man born blind 

We played games and spent time outdoors, learning and telling stories under the shade of the big, beautiful trees of the FCJ Centre. Together, we learned about how Jesus has also given us the power to be light-bearers and miracle workers in our own day-to-day lives.  

We wrapped up our week with the children’s family and friends coming to see the crafts everyone made. The children also shared what they learned through a heartwarming song and dance presentation. We celebrated the end of our journey with a delightful lunch, carrying new learnings, friendships, and the spirit of hope.
