A joyful gathering of FCJ Centre’s Annual Tea Party Fundraiser

ree

This year’s FCJ Centre Annual Tea Party was nothing short of inspiring. Last Sunday, September 14, 2025, the FCJ Centre welcomed 146 guests, including staff and volunteers, who gathered together on a sunny afternoon filled with gratitude, hope, and purpose.

The event was not only a gathering but also a fundraiser, with proceeds directed toward enhancing the FCJ Centre’s safety through the installation of a security gate with access control and CCTV cameras. This step ensures that the FCJ Centre remains a safe and a welcoming space for everyone who comes seeking rest, peace, growth, and community.

The afternoon was also filled with warmth and joy. One attendee, along with a sponsor and a volunteer took the stage to share their personal experiences at the FCJ Centre, stories that reflected how deeply the place touches the lives of those who enter its doors. Their words reminded everyone present of the mission and vision of the Centre, to be a Centre of hospitality and hope where God can be experienced in a changing world and an “oasis" in the heart of Calgary responding to the spiritual needs of the local, national, and global faith communities

We were honored by the presence of City of Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek,  who offered a heartfelt message on the importance of continuing the mission and supporting organizations like FCJ Centre that play such a vital role in the community. Bishop William McGrattan, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary, also emphasized the significance of having a sacred and supportive space like the FCJ Centre within our city.

Leading this year’s tea party were FCJ Centre’s Executive Director, Whitney Nagasan-Calo and Associate Director Rita Khanchat, whose dedication and leadership continue to guide the FCJ Centre forward.

Whitney shared: “A heartfelt gratitude and blessing to everyone who joined us for our Annual Tea Party fundraising event! We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our dedicated volunteers, hardworking staff, generous donors, silent auction bidders, 50/50 raffle participants, and all who delighted in our teas, homemade treats, and scones. Your presence and contributions made the day truly memorable. We look forward to sharing with you soon the wonderful results of what we’ve accomplished together. Help us continue our mission, visit: fcjcentre.ca/donate for more information”
