Sister Michelle Langlois, FCJ perpetual vows

ree

On Saturday, August 16, Sister Michelle Langlois, FCJ, made her perpetual vows as a Faithful Companion of Jesus.

Bishop McGrattan had suggested that the celebration be part of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish’s 5 pm Mass. Twenty FCJ sisters from Canada, USA, UK and France had been meeting together at Sacred Heart Convent and the FCJ Centre from Aug. 11 to 15 and all were grateful to be present for the final vows.

The rite of perpetual profession contained many prayers specifically for Sr. Michelle. Several women saints were invoked during the sung Litany of the Saints. Sr. Michelle was invited to receive Holy Communion under both species and to serve as Eucharistic Minister.

Sr. Michelle had become aware of her religious vocation when she was teaching at Bishop O’Byrne High School. After a time of spiritual direction and getting to know the community, she entered into formation, spending time in Toronto and London, England. After making her first vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, she was missioned to Edmonton where she taught in a junior high school. Since the FCJ Society is an international group, newer members are asked to have at least one year abroad before making their final commitment. Michelle spent a year in Manila, Philippines, and then began theological studies at Boston College, a Jesuit university. She has now returned to Boston to complete her final semester.

Please keep Sr. Michelle and all the FCJ Sisters worldwide in your prayers.
