About the Event
“Be still and know that I am God”- Ps 46:10
Meditation is an ancient form of prayer. Its aim is to bring the distracted mind to silence and stillness, and to rest in the presence of God.
This in-person course provides an opportunity for those interested in finding out about Christian meditation to experience the practice in a small group, to learn about its origins, and to discover its relevance as a form of prayer in the contemporary world. Registrants will receive a copy of the book 'Christian Meditation: Your Daily Practice' by Fr Laurence Freeman
This introductory course is a step by step guide into the practice and purpose of Christian Meditation. It will help lead you into fuller self-knowledge and self-acceptance and will usher in other spiritual fruits. One such fruit is understanding that when we practice meditation we do so not in isolation but in a field of spiritual friendship that helps us to keep going when we get discouraged. Each session has a welcome, a talk, a meditation period and time for questions and discussion.
This course runs on a weekly basis and maybe followed singly or in a group. It provides all the necessary reading and other material each week. Each session has a welcome, a talk on the tradition and practice of Christian meditation, a meditation period and time for questions and discussion.
Dates: Runs 5 weeks on Mondays from October 24 to November 21.
