About the Event

Join Fr. Cristino as he shares his story of reconciliation, openness, vulnerability, suffering and reconciling his two identities as an indigenous priest.

Come and join us in preparation for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation September 30, 2022.

Director:

Fr. Cristino Bouvette is a born and raised Albertan ordained for the Diocese of Calgary on June 22, 2012. He served as a seminarian and associate pastor in a number of parishes before taking up his current role as Vicar for Vocations and Young Adults in July, 2017. Since then he has helped to establish the St. Francis Xavier Chaplaincy for university students and young adults in the Diocese of Calgary. He oversees that growing project based out of St. Mary's Cathedral. He currently served/recently served as the National Liturgical Coordinator for the Papal Visit to Canada in recognition of both his Indigenous heritage as well as being a Catholic priest. He hopes to make Indigenous reconciliation an important element of his ministry.

Sr. Ger Curran, is a member of the Society of Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ). Originally from Ireland, Sr. Ger joined the FCJ Centre Resource Team in the fall of 2015. Ger has worked as a counsellor for many years in various settings. Before that, she served as school administrator and teacher in a high school in Ireland. She is a member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Before qualifying as an accredited Counsellor, Ger completed a Master's degree in Family Counselling from the University of Iona, New York. Since coming to Canada, Ger is working in the areas of counselling, interfaith matters, and helping refugee families. She is a member of the Calgary Interfaith Council and Calgary Council of Christians and Jews.
