On February 7, 2022, the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus, and the FCJ Centre received news that Sr. Joan Cartlidge had died peacefully. May she now be at peace with the loving God she served so well.
Some will remember Sister Joan who was part of Sacred Heart Convent community from 1999 until July 2012. She was a much appreciated spiritual director and the coordinator of the Spiritual Direction Training Program. She was a welcoming person with a big heart and charming smile. Always good fun, she played Santa one Christmas for the community. In 2012 she returned to her homeland of Australia.
Joan wrote a book entitled Life to the Full - Reflective Living. It has little guided mediations followed by prayer. Today she may be saying to Jesus, the Comforter, her prayer:
Gentle and loving Jesus, in my following of you may I be an instrument of your love. May I learn from your gentleness and compassion and be strongly grounded in you who are the centre of my life. I thank and praise you for all the blessings of this day ("my life" she may say now) and your unfailing goodness to me.
