Important COVID UPDATE - October 26, 2021

Updated October 26, 2021

Once again, we find that we are compelled to put in place restrictions to further reduce transmission of the COVID 19 virus. Alberta has declared a state of public health emergency. COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise, largely in unvaccinated Albertans. New measures to protect the health care system stop the spread and increase vaccination rates come into effect starting September 16. This includes enhanced sanitation, masking, and physical distancing.

Starting September 16, the FCJ Retreat and Conference Centre is adhering to the following

Businesses that implement the Restrictions Exemption Program would operate as usual, provided they are serving only people who have proof of immunization or who have a recent privately paid negative test within 72 hours. This means they could immediately and without restriction serve any individual eligible for vaccination who:

  • Has proof of double vaccination;

  • Has documentation of a medical exemption; or

  • Has proof of a recent (within the previous 72 hours) negative COVID-19 test (either PCR or Rapid Test). The test may not be from Alberta Health Services or Alberta Precision Laboratories.

October 26 Update - Please note updated proof of vaccination requirements:

  • Has received two doses of a two-dose vaccine series, with the second dose having been administered 14-days prior. (Note that the Janssen vaccine is the only Health Canada approved vaccine that requires only a single dose for a complete series - if an individual has received one dose of a Janssen vaccine at least two weeks prior).

  • A valid Government of Alberta Vaccination QR code. The Alberta vaccine record with a QR Code will be the only valid Alberta proof of vaccination accepted as of November 15. Paper records from your vaccination appointment or previous Alberta vaccine records without QR Codes that show name, birthdate, and vaccination type and date will be accepted until November 14.

  • Individuals 18 years of age or older must also present personal ID. Photo identification is not required.

The impact on the FCJ Retreat and Conference Centre are as follows:

  • All individuals entering the Centre beginning Sept. 20 must adhere to the Proof of vaccination directives list above.

  • Masking, physical distancing and hand sanitizing is mandatory.

  • Physical distancing must be assured in all spaces being used by patrons.

  • Masking & hand sanitizing is mandatory in the dining areas.

  • Housekeeping will provide enhanced cleaning for all hard surfaces, i.e., door handles, countertops etc. and sanitize frequently during the day.

  • Washrooms will be cleaned and sanitized frequently during the day

  • All staff will wear masks in public spaces

  • Outdoors there are no attendance restrictions however, physical distancing must be adhered to.

Sincerely,

Denise DeNeve

Director, FCJ Retreat and Conference Centre
