About the Event
The season of Advent is a time of light amid deep darkness, a time of waiting in hope and preparing ourselves to receive Christ into our hearts and our lives. This retreat is an invitation to come to know Christ in a new and deeper way as we journey through the season of Advent, preparing to welcome the Light of the World, Jesus Christ at Christmas!
For those who cannot get away for a retreat at the FCJ Centre, this is an opportunity to make an ‘at-home’ retreat. Participants will meet in a group via Zoom with experienced spiritual directors once a week for 4 weeks on Monday evenings, 7:00 - 8:30 pm. The directors will provide guidelines for daily prayer. Participants must commit to 30-60 minutes each day for personal prayer and journaling, and be open to sharing their prayer experiences. This faith sharing in a group setting is always enriching for all involved. If you desire a few weeks of retreat to deepen your relationship with God, this opportunity for an ‘at home’ directed retreat is a perfect experience for you. Register now!
The Program runs over 4-weeks: November 28, December 5, 12 and 19.
Directors:
Sr. Ann Marie Walsh, a member of the Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ), is on staff at the FCJ Christian Life Centre where she offers individual spiritual direction and individual or group retreats in person and online. Following many years in Catholic Education, both as a teacher and an administrator, and as a Local Leader in her own religious congregation, Ann Marie received her training in spiritual direction with the Jesuits at Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario. She was a member of the retreat staff there before coming to Calgary in 2012. Ann Marie loves the ministry of spiritual direction. She delights in reminding people that they are individually loved by God and journeying with people who are searching for a closer relationship with God.
Patricia Harasym, a member of the FCJ Centre Resource Team, offers spiritual direction, individual
and group retreats, and courses at the FCJ Centre. Patricia is on the National Council for the Canadian
Community for Christian Meditation and facilitates Christian Meditation groups through the FCJ Centre. Patricia received her training in Ignatian Spiritual Direction at the FCJ Centre Calgary and her Master’s and Ph.D. level training in Communication and Culture from the University of Calgary. Her passion for compassionate and equitable communication underlays her deep desire to find God in all things.
