12 Week Individual Retreat in Everyday Life - Sept 2022 (HYBRID)

For those who want to do an extended Ignatian Retreat but cannot participate in the Full 30-Day Retreat or the 19th Annotation (which is a 9- month retreat), this 12-Week Retreat in Daily Life, based on the work of Joseph Tetlow, S.J., provides an opportunity to experience Ignatian Spirituality in an extended retreat. This retreat is also helpful to those who have completed the Spiritual Exercises and wish to enrich that experience.

This 12-Week prayer experience is an individually directed retreat with a group Opening Prayer on the first night and a group closing prayer on the final night of the Retreat. Days and times of weekly, in-person individual spiritual direction sessions will be scheduled by the individual participant and the spiritual director. If a participant cannot come to the FCJ Centre, arrangements can be made to meet by Zoom. Participants commit to 40 to 60 minutes each day for personal prayer and journaling, as well as the weekly meeting with the director. The director will provide guidelines for prayer and will reflect with you on your prayer experiences.  For those who cannot get away for a retreat at the FCJ Centre this opportunity to do an at-home retreat is invaluable.

HYBRID PROGRAM: September 2022- Beginning week of September 12th and ending the week of November 28th. The Opening and Closing meetings will be group meetings online. The weekly individual meetings will be with your facilitator once a week for 12 weeks. Appointments will be made at times convenient for both the director and the recreant. Participant registration is limited to 6 people.

Directors: 

Sr. Ann Marie Walsh, a member of the Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ), is on staff at the FCJ Christian Life Centre where she offers individual spiritual direction and individual or group retreats. Following many years in Catholic education, both as a teacher and administrator and as a Local Leader in her own religious congregation, Ann Marie received her training in spiritual direction with the Jesuits at Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario. She was a member of the retreat staff there before coming to Calgary in 2012. Ann Marie loves the ministry of spiritual direction. She delights in reminding people that they are individually loved by God and journeying with people who are searching for a closer relationship with God.

Lisa Gilead has been involved in Ignatius Spirituality for over a decade through her association with the FCJ Community as a Companion in Mission. She completed the 19th Annotation Retreat in 2019. Lisa is a certified Spiritual Director having completed the Spiritual Direction Training Program offered at the FCJ Christian Life Centre and continues to offer spiritual direction at the Centre. Lisa treasures the opportunities to journey with others as they deepen their relationship with God.

Patricia Harasym, a member of the FCJ Centre Resource Team, offers spiritual direction, individual

and group retreats, and courses at the FCJ Centre. Patricia is on the National Council for the Canadian

Community for Christian Meditation and facilitates Christian Meditation groups through the FCJ Centre. Patricia received her training in Ignatian Spiritual Direction at the FCJ Centre Calgary and her Master’s and Ph.D. level training in Communication and Culture from the University of Calgary. Her passion for compassionate and equitable communication underlays her deep desire to find God in all things.
